OUR ALCOHOL & DRUG PROGRAMMES
Anxiety & Depression Treatment Programme
Are you struggling with anxiety or depression? Anxiety and depression comes in all shapes and sizes. It can be an occasional social apprehension and nervousness, a daily sickening worry that torments you, a home-bound agoraphobia or a sudden full-blown panic attack. Anxiety can negatively impact one’s daily life, career, relationships, goals and aspirations and bring on depression, self-doubt and low self-esteem. Anxiety and depression can lead to the feeling that one is crazy or slowly going that way, making day to day life miserable.
As with any mental health concerns, treatment should be tailored to a specific diagnosis. A treatment plan for
a diagnosis of anxiety and/or depression disorder should be designed to help a person manage and reduce
the symptoms of both disorders, often at the same time. Several forms of psychotherapy are effective, like Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Both DBT and CBT assist
with mindfulness and work to replace negative and unproductive thought patterns with more realistic and
useful ones.
Our Anxiety & Depression Treatment Programme focuses on taking specific steps to overcome anxiety and depression. Treatment often involves facing one’s fears as part of the pathway to recovery. Psycho-education, Interpersonal therapy and problem-solving therapy are also effective.
Alongside treatment, medications can also be useful for a time. Its important to point out that symptoms of depression and anxiety can often occur together, and research shows that both respond to treatment with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) medications.
