Addiction Support Groups
Addiction thrives in isolation. When you’re stuck in your own head, the same thoughts loop, the same patterns repeat, and it’s hard to see a way through. Addiction support groups break that cycle by putting you in a room with people who actually understand what you’re going through, because they’ve lived it too.
Clinic 77’s addiction support groups in Auckland are clinician-led, available online, and built around real participation. Our addiction group sessions combine structured therapeutic work with open group sharing, giving you both professional guidance and peer connection that lasting recovery demands.

Anger & Conflict Management Group
A structured space to explore and address struggles with anger. Weekly sessions create accountability and continuity, with each session building toward improved emotional wellbeing and interpersonal relationships.

Connect with a virtual community dedicated to recovery. Working through the structured 12 steps together builds camaraderie and accountability, supporting each participant’s progress towards lasting positive change.
3
AOD 101 Group
An introductory psychoeducation group covering the fundamentals of Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) use and addiction. Topics include the neurobiology of substance use, tolerance, dependence, withdrawal, and the impact of substances on mental, physical, and social functioning.
4
Emotional Regulation Group
A structured and empathetic setting for individuals to enhance their emotional wellbeing. Participants explore the nuances of their emotions, develop self-awareness, and build adaptive coping mechanisms—helping them navigate life’s complexities with greater ease and balance.
5
CBT Group
A skills-based approach to understanding and managing thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Using evidence-based CBT tools, including cognitive restructuring, behavioural addiction, and coping strategies, participants learn to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and develop healthier responses.
6
Narcotics Anonymous/Alcoholics Anonymous Hybrid Meeting
A comprehensive, inclusive recovery space combining the philosophies of both NA and AA. Participants share experiences, reflect on the 12 steps, and build resilience in a non-judgmental environment. As an online platform, it’s accessible from anywhere in New Zealand, reducing barriers and strengthening connection.
7
Psychotherapy Group
A supportive and confidential space to explore emotional, psychological, and interpersonal challenges within a group setting. Through guided discussion and therapeutic reflection, participants discover deeper self-awareness and insight into underlying issues, relationship dynamics, and emotional responses.
Gender-specific addiction support groups are also available when sufficient numbers allow. Contact us to find out whether a group is currently running.
How Our Groups Work
If you’re looking for addiction support groups near you, why not try our online options? Our groups generally meet once or twice a week for 90 minutes to two hours. The effectiveness of the group for an individual is determined by how much they choose to participate. How much each person shares of themselves is also up to the individual, but there's security in knowing that what’s said in the group stays in the group.
We have both open and closed groups. Open groups are those in which new members can join at any time. Closed groups are those in which all members begin the group at the same time.

The Power of Group Sharing
Addiction group counselling can give you a new perspective on your situation, serve as a sounding board, and help you see the solutions in a new light. It provides connection, support and encouragement as well as the opportunity to re-engage with people; it’s particularly helpful if isolating has become a common practice in your life.
Group sharing can be healing. When an individual gets to share their story and experiences, it can be really empowering and meaningful. It also has a two-fold effect; it can be incredibly beneficial to the others in the group.
About Our Groups
Our weekly online groups cover a broad range of recovery-focused topics—from AOD education and 12-step principles to emotional regulation and psychotherapy. For addiction support groups, our online sessions mean you get the same quality of clinician-led support without having to travel. Whether you’re in the early stages of recovery or working on long-term wellbeing, there’s a group designed to meet you where you are.
Our addiction group counselling takes a practical, hands-on approach, showing you how to integrate recovery into your everyday life. The benefits extend beyond the group itself with a ripple effect across relationships, family dynamics, work, and overall health and wellbeing.
